Very dense CD storage By Aydin Koc I was somewhat apprehensive before puying this product, because I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to assemble it. Although the boxes were very heavy, the assembly job turned out to be very manageable. Instructions were good and I was able to complete the whole assembly job within 45 minutes, with very minor help from my wife. What I like about this CD-rack is that it allows for very dense CD storage - about 1000 CDs in a footprint of 18"x18". It also looks like furniture and blends in well with other furniture. If you have a lot of CDs, DVDs and Videotapes languishing in various places, I'd highly recommend it. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Great Capacity, Minimal Footprint By Shortey Girley This media stand has incredible storage capacity without hogging an entire wall of your room. It's a quality product, made of sturdy wood that I'm confident will have no issues supporting a media collection, books, or any other odds and ends you may choose to put on the shelves. It takes up about as much space as a 5-foot-tall person would if you put a box around them and is suprisingly easy to assemble: there are a total of 12 pieces, not including screws, and all you need is a philips screwdriver and a hammer (hammer use is minimal, and mindless). Once it's assembled, it's relatively easy to lift (the boxes it comes in are HEAVY - one is 70 lbs; the second is smaller, but awkward to lift). The pieces are nicely labeled as being part of Box A or Box B, and are so easy to identify that there's no risk that you'll mistake one component for another. As someone else mentioned, be ready to spend some time cleaning off the sawdust that coats the packaging - it took me more time to clean off the assembled unit and shelves than it did to put it together. Storage capacity (MAX): - 26 CDs per shelf; max of 10 shelves per side (so if you wanted to fill all 4 sides with CDs, you could fit 26 x 10 x 4 = 1,040 CDs) - 18 DVDs per shelf; max of 7 shelves per side (so if you wanted to fill all 4 sides with DVDs, you could fit 18 x 7 x 4 = 504 DVDs) - 22 Blu-rays per shelf; max of 8 shelves per side (so if you wanted to fill all 4 sides with Blu-rays, you could fit 22 x 8 x 4 = 704 Blu-rays) Note: The above numbers assume that you're using basic CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays (no box sets, etc.). I wish the description would have been more clear that it is a 2-drawer unit and not a 5-drawer like it appears. The drawers are very roomy though so that made up for my misunderstanding. The only negative was that the top of the unit is damaged, it looks like a giant iron print on the top of the unit. It is too much hassle to try to return an item of this size for something that we will never see, so we kept it. Overall we are very happy with the quality. A great price - and look is good but the quality of product and the frustration in construction would have had me send it back if it wasn't such a bulky item. Would not purchase again. Pros. * At first touch/sight, the particle board looks like solid wood. * It was the only thing I could find for the price to hold my 73" DLP TV. * Seems Durable * Easy to assemble. * It's a nice good height and holds most of my equipment (receiver, cable box, two game systems, and some baskets with accessories). * My wife, who has expensive tastes, isn't appalled. Cons. * Particle Board * When I wiped it down, for the first time, some of the stain came off onto the rag. * It arrived in two shipments (three boxes) 3 days apart. * The large center piece delivered by fedex ground, arrived opened, (basically the top box was not attached to the rest of it) thankfully nothing was damaged. * The dimensions of the shelves are only 19" x 19" (give or take a half inch). * The three pieces do not connect to one another. * The shelves are not adjustable. Good looking tv console By Seymoreholes This TV console exceeded my expectations with how it looks and the sturdiness however the finish is literally paper thin. If you look at it the wrong way it will scratch and show very light color wood underneath. To deal with this I purchased a brown felt tip marker and it seems to hide the blemishes from the naked eye. For the price I would still buy this again. As long as you aren't expecting solid wood you can't go wrong. I even have 2 small children that like to abuse furniture. The assembly wasn't bad, took about 1 hour and everything fit together snugly. I had to add a fan to one of the cabinets that I keep my HTPC in to keep things cool but being that the backing is wood and not cardboard this was easily accomplished with a jigsaw and a dremel. Good Product for Small/Medium Room By Rescue 51 I have a small 20x12 living room and this piece fits perfectly. I would have preferred a more natural wood look but the black color veneer works. Setup was a snap and you do not need any tools. Instructions are good and took me about 20 minutes to assemble with no parts missing out of the box and all pieces fit together without any problems. My TV is a Sony Bravia 40" Z5100 weighing around 55lbs. The top shelf where the TV sits does not bow at all but...decided to just play it safe and cut a 1" wooden dowel to stick between the top and middle shelf for added support. Painted it black and you can't even tell its there. My audio receiver and DirecTV receiver box sits between the dowel without any interference. The weight capacity stated is 80 pounds but I would not place any set larger than 46" on it without some sort of support. Wood composite panels used for a shelf have a tendency to bow after a period of time. I still recommend this piece for anyone getting a new LCD or Plasma TV that's not larger than 46" and doesn't weigh more than 60-70lbs. It came so well packaged it was actually quite unbelievable. Not a scratch or dent on it because it was wrapped with about 4 layers of cardboard boxes. It also came just about fully assembled, which is obviously great. The only thing I had to do was peel some plastic off the glass and turn the knobs from inside out. They did that so that they didn't break off. I did have some issues with the purchase but the product itself was 5 stars no doubt. It looks fantastic and is everything I was hoping for. However, As the description may lead you to believe, this item does NOT come with the media towers. I was pretty disappointed and now I have to purchase the towers which is pretty expensive. Home and Living (seller) has been great about it and has done everything they can. They stated that Amazon is in control of the description there but is willing to honor it as much as they can. I do thing Amazon is a bit in the wrong here. Overall I am very pleased with the TV stand, but I'm still working with Amazon and the vendor to get this thing figured out. I mounted a new Samsung 46'' HDTV on the wall and bought this stand to hold all the other components, which it does nicely. In the middle (bottom) I have an Onkyo HT-RC260 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver and in the middle (top) the Klipsch Synergy C-1 Center Channel Speaker. (Note that the comparable Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel Speaker was too wide). On the left I have a Wii and a DVR and on the right a PS3 and cable box. There's plenty of room for everything, and the doors enable remotes to work through the glass. It was easy to put together, although I did reverse one piece and had to take it apart and reassemble, but that only took about 10 minutes since I then knew what I was doing. (The bottom peace is only black on one side, and easy to flip around by mistake). The pictures sometimes appear gray or dark gray, but the unit is indeed black. The screws provided to connect the 2 door knobs (brushed nickel) were too short, so I had to find longer screws at the hardware store. This was a bit annoying, but simple enough a fix that I'll keep my rating at 5 stars. As such, I'm happy with my purchase. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Pleased By G. By Leif Sheppard Over the past year I've discovered that it can be an arduous task to find quality media storage, and I can assure the curious consumer that price is no indication of quality. These Windowpane shelves, however, retail for around $150 and I've been reasonably pleased with them. The finish is very nice, it's nearly black with a subtle woodtone, and the unit as a whole just looks great. The sliding glass doors work well, though items placed in the middle where the two doors intersect are difficult to access. The one major quality complaint is that the shelves will slightly bow over time, especially if they're used to hold television DVD sets (which I do). Most media storage units are actually designed with compact discs in mind, so if you stock them with DVDs you find the bottom shelf will be too small to stand the DVDs up and you'll have to lay them on their sides. This one, however, holds all of the DVDs perfectly upright as it's supposed to. I agree with the reviewer here that it's a good idea to buy locally if possible, the packaging isn't very protective. Assembly time will be approximately an hour, possibly shorter if you're accustomed to assembling DIY furniture. As always, buyer beware! I bought another media storage unit from Atlantic thinking it would be the same quality as this one, and it most certainly was not (the unit I refer to is the Atlantic Drawbridge - Media storage cassette, VHS, DVD, CD, you can read my review of that piece of trash by following the link). 44 of 48 people found the following review helpful. Probably good, but shipped poorly By C. Ayres The one star in this review is for the custome service we dealt with in getting our money back. I've seen this cabinet whole and complete (we got one just like it from a different retailer that ran out after our purchase) and it is beautiful and functional. When we ordered it from Amazon.com independent retailer, it was a whole other story. The cabinet was shipped in pieces, which wasn't a problem as it is easy to put together. The problem was it was shipped in one box with the doors touching the outside edges of the box. If they would have shipped this in its orginal box inside another box with a bit of packing, there would not have been a problem. The first time we got it, the glass was damaged as was the doors. The second time, the glass was intact, but the doors were again damaged. The problem was that the line along the bottom and top of the doors that fits into the grooves so the doors slide back and forth were split and cracked making the items unrepairable. The wood is a composit and fragile. The main casing was also scratched and dented, again from the lack of proper packing. In conclusion, if you can find this cabinet locally, go for it --its very nice. If you need to order it from anywhere, I would be wary and probably shy away from it. It looks beautiful when all put together. I was really impressed with it when I finished. The really like the color and the finish seems to be pretty good quality on the parts facing outwards towards you. The color looks like it does in the picture, that is assuming your monitor is calibrated correctly. It isn't made of solid wood but its does seem to be a higher quality denser veneer wood (comparing to Ikea stuff and some other furniture from Amazon). You can also choose how the top shelf sits on the bottom one. It doesn't actually connect to the bottom piece, it just rests on it. I didn't realize that but it works great so you can adjust the size of it and look of it. But... there were some quality issues I experienced. Maybe you will get luckier than me. Out of the box, some of the pieces were very scratched up. Luckily, almost all of the scratches were on the backside or underneath! I don't know if they planned that during shipping and made the sides facing outwards more protected in packing or not. But still there was some damage visible when put together but not much. Well other quality issues. I had a lot of trouble putting this thing together! I got pretty frustrated. I've put together several furniture items that I have bought from Amazon and Ikea. This was my worst experience by far. So here: 1) A screw was deformed so I didn't have enough. Easy fix though, I have plenty of screws hanging around. Just annoying because I ran into other problems. 2) The holes the screws go into were really really hard to align. 2 of 3 would go in fine and the last was way off. I really had to play/force with the wood and screw alignment to get them in. Happened on several occasions but it worked out. 3) The circular that you turn with a screwdriver to connect pieces together (the thing where the cylinder slides into and you tighten it by twisting it) didn't fit in the wood correctly on almost all of the holes! They went in too far because the holes were drilled too deep so if you push them in all the way wedge them out a big with your screwdriver. Took me awhile to figure it out and kept trying to force things in. 4) Plus the damages I mentioned before completes this list. 5) Also a tip, slide the backing pieces for the bottom shelf in first before you tighten anything otherwise they don't align and you cant get them in and have to take it apart. Overall, I am satisfied with it cause it looks great. I am happy with the price for the quality but I just wish those scratches weren't there. It should get 5 stars otherwise. Hamm beauty of the picture: the quality is very poor, ie Tattoo & thin laminate bubbling. We packed up and wait while the truck driver, b / c we were told that b / 4 he left to inspect. It took a while, we had a bad conscience and asked him to stand there. After a brief review of the top corners, and it was okay, but we have not done any of the many heavy pieces. There were a few scrapes and blisters, but we did it together and we've tried - lead instructions and very poor. The sliding doors do not fit, so we relied instead. There was no way to save someone if packaging a program like this could be as the business owner said, basically, Bad luck! He tried to negotiate a 10% discount for a good feedback. For 15 minutes he tried to negotiate to their advantage, until my patience ran thin. I told her conclusion that it is a piece of junk and I want to take it back but I would pay shipping and tax, even said NO WAY. So here is my honest review to not make the same mistake! Does anyone really want this garbage lowest level that would be destroyed w / the slightest drop of water And you know it is soooooo bad when the company can not give any information. it when you call and ask (which we did)? By Old Style It came with a little dent, went to together in about 10 min. but i would not recommend, the glass feels like it will break when you put anything on it. The coffee table itself just doesn't seem well made. The legs and frame don't line up perfectly so there are gaps where the legs are attached to the table. For all three pieces it was only about $260 (no tax, no shipping charges). I received them in good condition. They were packed well, and I was able to easily decipher the "picture only" instructions. I assembled them by myself, and once I figured out how the first table went together, the other two were a breeze. It took me about 30minutes to assemble each piece. When I opened the box the most important fronts were all scratched. They are packed together without packaging (protection) around the panels. Watt I needed a rack for all my TV stuff and my new 55 "flat screen, and after a few weeks of shopping, I took it here. It came on time and without damage. (Heavy parasite, however,) It took me about 2 hours to assemble. I got together a dozen (literally) of the pieces of Ikea furniture, and it is high for easy assembly. It was not difficult to construct, but a few steps time consuming. The instructions were pretty clear; just pay attention to the details in the pictures and you won't go wrong The pieces fit together very snuggly so it turns out to be a real solid piece of furniture. This is not a flimsy piece of put-together junk. The width is perfect for me - just wide enough to fill the wall space I wanted to fill. The four open shelves hold my cable box, blue-ray, VHS player and sub woofer just great. I haven't put anything in the two drawers yet except the paperwork for all the components. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is the tone of the wood finish. In the picture it looks much lighter than it really is. I thought it was a tone of almost a cherry wood but when they say Expresso, think dark. It still matches in my family room pretty well so I'm not totally disappointed. I bought it for $ 205 and received extensive damage in a box (which is not the fault of the company, UPS only) It was a piece he had broken into two parts. It is cheap particle board and breaks easily. OSP Designs I wrote and explained the situation, because they ensure all the parties and supersedes, for some reason, if it is damaged upon receipt. They gave me the run around asking for two weeks for photos, a special form, and proof of purchase. I gave them everything they need and have always ignored my request. I wrote back and said that if they do not correct the problem and send me my little I wanted a full refund and they wanted the shipping costs to return to him. They said they would pack if I refuse to back, would not pay the fees, and said they did not sell amazon.com. I explained that I bought from Amazon, and yes indeed they are sold out! It's been over 3 weeks .. Now they say they will send me some .... We shall see. No word on that yet. Many non-sense of a small part. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. The very thin veneer was scratched in places had "wood" as a crack and reveal adhesive labels, which they glued together. Frankly, we were too scared to put a real TV. From a distance it looks almost like an IKEA reject, but within 10 meters, it seems that the cheap thing there is. I doubt I would ever buy again from OSP Designs. See all 2 reviews ....
